How Long Is the Pikey Peak Trek?
The standard route takes 7 days from Kathmandu. This includes the drive in, four trekking days, the summit, and the drive back. A shorter 5-day version is possible if time is limited. The route from Dhap follows a well-established trail through Jhapre, Pikey Base Camp, the summit, and descends to Junbesi and Phaplu before the return drive.
Daily walking is 5 to 7 hours on moderate trails. The final morning to the summit is an early start, typically 4am, to catch the sunrise. It is the hardest hour of the trek and also the best.
Getting from Kathmandu to Dhap: Your Options Honestly Explained
This is the part most guides skip over. The drive from Kathmandu to Dhap is 230 kilometres and takes 8 to 9 hours. The road follows the BP Highway east along the Sun Kosi River for the first half, which is a reasonable surface. Past Okhaldhunga the road climbs steeply for about three hours on a narrower, rougher track before reaching Dhap at 2,850 metres.

The summit at 4,065 metres offers one of the most complete Himalayan panoramas accessible without technical climbing or extreme altitude.
