Kathmandu Heritage Day

Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square with a licensed guide

This is an 11-day private tour built around three paid adventure activities, all included in the price. It opens with a full heritage day in Kathmandu covering four UNESCO sites, then moves to the Trishuli River for a day of Grade 2 and 3 white-water rafting before continuing to Pokhara. In Pokhara you spend three days: a pre-dawn 3-hour trek to Sarangkot at 1,592m followed immediately by a 30 to 45-minute tandem paragliding flight back down to Phewa Lake, a bungee jump from the 262-foot Hemja platform, and a full lakeside sightseeing day. The second half heads south to Chitwan National Park for two days of wildlife activities including a jeep safari, Rapti River canoe, and guided jungle walk. The trip closes with a free day and farewell dinner in Kathmandu.

No trekking experience is needed. The Sarangkot climb is the most physical moment of the trip, a 3-hour uphill on a clear trail before dawn. If you can walk uphill for 3 hours you can do this. The rafting, paragliding, and bungee all require no prior experience. Professional guides and certified pilots handle each activity with full safety briefings before you start.

MountainKick runs this fully private with a licensed guide throughout all 11 days. All activity bookings, Chitwan permits, and logistics are coordinated before your arrival. Travel insurance covering rafting, paragliding, and bungee jumping is compulsory on this trip.

What you will see and do:

  • White-water rafting on the Trishuli River, Grade 2 and 3 rapids from Charaundi to Kurintar with professional guides and all safety equipment
  • Pre-dawn 3-hour trek to Sarangkot at 1,592m with the full Annapurna range from Dhaulagiri to Manaslu appearing at sunrise
  • 30 to 45-minute tandem paragliding flight from Sarangkot directly above Phewa Lake landing at the lakeside
  • Bungee jumping from the 262-foot steel platform at Hemja, 15 minutes north of Pokhara
  • Pashupatinath Temple on the Bagmati River, Boudhanath Stupa at dusk, Swayambhunath hilltop stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square
  • Phewa Lake boat ride to Tal Barahi Temple and Pokhara lakeside sightseeing
  • Jeep safari in Chitwan National Park for one-horned rhino, Bengal tiger, and leopard
  • Canoe ride on the Rapti River for gharial crocodile and waterbird sightings
  • Guided jungle walk in the Chitwan buffer zone with a certified naturalist

For travellers who want the same three activities combined with the Panchase Hill trek instead of Chitwan, the Nepal Adventure and Pokhara Panchase Trek covers the same activities in 12 days. For the longest version with rafting, Poon Hill trekking, Lumbini, and Chitwan in one trip, the Nepal Trekking, Rafting and Safari runs 19 days.

Accommodation & Food

Where You'll Sleep & What You'll Eat

Honest information about accommodation and food on this trip — so you know exactly what to expect and how much to budget.

Where you'll stay

Kathmandu nights are at a 3-star hotel in Thamel with private en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and WiFi. The location puts you close to the heritage sites on Day 2 and within easy reach of the airport on arrival and departure.

Pokhara is four nights at a 3-star lakeside hotel in the Baidam area with views of Phewa Lake or the Annapurna range. The lakeside location keeps you close to the Sarangkot trek departure point, the bungee transfer, and the restaurant strip throughout your Pokhara stay.

Chitwan is two nights at a jungle resort in Sauraha on the edge of the national park buffer zone. Lodge-style rooms in a natural setting with all meals included. Your naturalist guide is based on site and wildlife is visible from the resort grounds.

Single supplement is available on request at all city hotels. Jungle resort rooms cannot be guaranteed as single occupancy.

Food & daily budget

Breakfast is included at all hotels throughout the trip. All meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included during your two nights at the Chitwan jungle resort. The farewell dinner with cultural performance in Kathmandu on Day 10 is also included.

Lunches and dinners in Kathmandu and Pokhara are at your own expense. In Thamel restaurants cover every cuisine and budget at $8 to $15 per person for dinner. In Pokhara the lakeside strip has the same range. On the rafting day lunch is not included so eat a good breakfast before you get on the water and budget for a meal at Kurintar before the drive to Pokhara.

Chitwan resort food is simple, good quality, and plentiful. All three meals are included on both days. Your naturalist guide eats with the group which is a good time to debrief on the day’s sightings.

Lunch in Kathmandu or Pokhara $6 to $12 per person
Dinner in Kathmandu, Thamel $8 to $15 per person
Dinner in Pokhara, lakeside $8 to $15 per person
Lunch at Kurintar after rafting $5 to $8 per person
Coffee and snacks $2 to $5 per day
Bottled water $0.50 to $1 per bottle
Optional activities in Pokhara $80 to $130 per activity

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything trekkers ask us before booking the Nepal Adventure Tour — answered honestly.

Three paid adventure activities are fully included: white-water rafting on the Trishuli River from Charaundi to Kurintar covering Grade 2 and 3 rapids, tandem paragliding from Sarangkot with a certified pilot for 30 to 45 minutes above Pokhara, and bungee jumping from the 262-foot steel platform at Hemja. All safety gear, certified guides and pilots, and activity fees are included. No prior experience is needed for any of the three.

Both trips include the same three adventure activities: Trishuli rafting, Sarangkot paragliding, and Hemja bungee. The difference is in the second half. The Nepal Adventure and Pokhara Panchase Trek adds a 4-day mountain trek to Panchase Hill at 2,506m instead of the Chitwan safari. This tour is 11 days and suits travellers who want the three activities plus wildlife. The Panchase Trek is 12 days and suits those who want the activities plus a proper mountain summit.

This itinerary includes the 3-hour trek to the Sarangkot summit before the paragliding flight. The trek is the right way to do it on an adventure tour: you arrive at the launch site having earned the view and the flight down feels more rewarding. A vehicle option to the launch site exists if needed for mobility reasons. Let us know when you book and we will adjust.

Yes. The Trishuli River Grade 2 and 3 rapids are Nepal’s most popular beginner rafting section. Professional guides, helmets, and life jackets are provided. A full safety briefing covers all techniques and emergency procedures before you launch. The main requirement is following your guide’s instructions and informing them of any swimming limitations before you get on the water.

Bungee jumping at Hemja has a minimum age of 10 years, minimum weight of 35kg, and maximum weight of 110kg. Paragliding from Sarangkot has no formal published weight limit but operators typically work with passengers up to around 100kg. Let us know in advance if this is relevant and we will confirm with the operator before your trip. Rafting has no formal age or weight restrictions but basic comfort in water is helpful.

All three adventure activities are weather-dependent. Paragliding is the most affected by poor conditions as low cloud and rain ground flights regularly in monsoon and can affect them in other months too. Your guide monitors conditions daily and will advise on the day. In most cases a short postponement within the itinerary is possible. Travel insurance with adventure activity coverage is essential for this trip in case an activity cannot run within the itinerary window.

Chitwan National Park is home to one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tigers, sloth bears, leopards, gharial and mugger crocodiles, and over 500 bird species. Rhino sightings on jeep safari are very common. Tiger sightings are rarer but do occur on early morning safaris. The Rapti River canoe section is excellent for crocodiles and waterbirds. Your naturalist guide tracks fresh signs throughout the day and positions the vehicle for the best sightings.

Travel insurance is compulsory on this trip and must specifically cover white-water rafting, paragliding, and bungee jumping plus emergency medical evacuation. Standard travel insurance policies frequently exclude adventure activities so check your policy carefully before you travel. This is non-negotiable on this itinerary given the three paid adventure activities.

October and November are the prime months. Skies are clear, the Annapurna range from Sarangkot is at its sharpest, the Trishuli is at a good rafting level, and Chitwan wildlife is most visible. March and April are equally good. December and January are cooler and the Sarangkot pre-dawn trek is cold but clear. June to September is monsoon season. Paragliding is frequently grounded, the Trishuli can run dangerously high, and this tour is not recommended during those months.

Yes with some caveats. The heritage sightseeing, Chitwan safari, canoe ride, and Sarangkot trek are all suitable for children with reasonable fitness. The bungee has a minimum age of 10 and a minimum weight of 35kg. Paragliding is tandem so younger children need to meet the operator’s minimum requirements. Let us know the ages of any children when you book and we will confirm which activities they can join.

Yes. Common adjustments include adding extra days in Pokhara, swapping Chitwan for the Panchase trek, or upgrading city hotels to 4-star or 5-star. For the longest version of this type of trip combining rafting, paragliding, bungee, trekking, Lumbini, and Chitwan in one itinerary, the Nepal Trekking, Rafting and Safari runs 19 days. Kumar replies personally within a few hours and is happy to adjust around your schedule.

Trekking pants 2 pairs Lightweight quick-dry material. Doubles as rafting clothing on Day 3
Warm hat and gloves 1 each For the pre-dawn Sarangkot summit trek at 1,592m. Cold before dawn even in spring and autumn
Moisture-wicking base layers 2 to 3 Useful for the Sarangkot trek and active days. Less critical than on a multi-day trek
Comfortable walking clothes 3 to 4 days worth Lightweight and breathable. Kathmandu and Pokhara are warm most of the year
Modest temple clothing 1 outfit Covered shoulders and knees required at Pashupatinath and most Hindu temples
Light fleece or jacket 1 Pokhara mornings can be cool between November and February
Rain jacket 1 Useful Oct to May for afternoon showers. Essential if travelling Mar to May
Walking shoes 1 pair For city and heritage site days only
Sandals or slip-ons 1 pair You remove shoes frequently at temples. Easy on and off saves time
Neutral coloured clothing for Chitwan 2 outfits Khaki, olive, or brown. Bright colours disturb wildlife on jeep safari and jungle walks
Long sleeved shirts 2 to 3 Protects against insects in Chitwan at dawn and dusk
Warm layer for evenings 1 Kathmandu evenings drop noticeably in December and January
Quick-dry outfit for rafting 1 You will get wet on the Trishuli. Bring a separate change of clothes for after the rafting section ends on Day 5
Temples in Kathmandu require covered shoulders and knees on Day 2. For Chitwan wear neutral colours and cover arms and legs. For the Sarangkot trek wear comfortable layers and broken-in footwear. For rafting bring clothes you do not mind getting soaked.
Item Qty Note
Sunscreen SPF 30 or higher 1 Especially important on the Sarangkot summit and during the paragliding flight where UV exposure is high
Insect repellent 1 Essential for Chitwan. Dawn and dusk have heavy mosquito activity. DEET-based repellent recommended
Personal medications Full supply Bring more than you need. Specific brands can be hard to find outside Kathmandu
Hand sanitiser 1 Useful at busy temple sites
Reusable water bottle 1 Filtered water is available at both hotels. Reduces plastic waste on the road
Lip balm with SPF 1 Useful on the Sarangkot trek and during the paragliding flight
Small day bag or backpack 1 For carrying essentials on the Sarangkot trek and activity days
Sunscreen, insect repellent, and lip balm are available in Thamel but bring your own DEET-based repellent for Chitwan. Standard repellents are less effective in the jungle.
Item Qty Note
Phone and charger 1 A local SIM card gives you data from Day 1. We help you get one in Kathmandu
Camera 1 The Sarangkot sunrise, paragliding flight, Trishuli gorge, and Chitwan jeep safari all reward a proper camera. A zoom lens is useful for wildlife in Chitwan
Universal power adapter 1 Nepal uses Type C, D, and M sockets
Power bank 1 Useful on long drive days between destinations
Headlamp with spare batteries 1 Essential for the pre-dawn Sarangkot trek start on Day 4. Do not rely on your phone torch on the trail before dawn
Waterproof phone case or dry bag 1 Essential for the Trishuli rafting days. You will get wet. Also protects electronics at the riverside camp
Nepal uses Type C, D, and M plug sockets. Bring a universal adapter if your devices use a different plug type.
Item Qty Note
USD cash Enough for visa plus backup USD is the most useful foreign currency in Nepal for tips, optional activities, and emergencies
Nepali rupees Day to day spending ATMs reliable in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Withdraw sufficient cash before leaving Pokhara on Day 7 as Chitwan resorts are largely cash based
Credit or debit card 1 to 2 Visa and Mastercard accepted at most Thamel and lakeside restaurants and shops
ATMs are reliable in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Withdraw sufficient cash before leaving Pokhara on Day 7. Chitwan resorts are largely cash based and ATM access in Sauraha is limited.
Item Note
Thermal base layer top and bottom Kathmandu mornings drop to 2 to 5 degrees in January. Pokhara is milder but evenings are cold
Warm hat and gloves Essential for the pre-dawn Sarangkot trek in winter. Temperatures at 1,592m before dawn in December and January drop close to zero
Heavy fleece or down jacket Layering works better than one thick coat for moving between cold mornings and warm afternoons
Warm socks Stone temple floors are cold underfoot in winter months
Item Note
Waterproof rain jacket Daily afternoon rain is near certain in both cities. A good jacket matters more than an umbrella
Quick-dry clothing Humidity is high and clothes take longer to dry between days
Waterproof bag cover or dry bags Protects your camera on the Trishuli rafting days and during trail downpours. Essential not optional on this trip
Umbrella Useful in town and at temple sites where you spend time outdoors
Monsoon months from June to September are not recommended for this tour. Paragliding from Sarangkot is frequently grounded by low cloud and rain. The Trishuli River can run dangerously high during peak monsoon making rafting unsafe. The Sarangkot sunrise views are largely lost. October to April is the right window for all three activities.
Rent or Buy in Kathmandu

The rafting crew provides helmets, life jackets, paddles, and all water safety equipment. The paragliding operator provides all flight equipment and safety gear. The bungee operator provides all harnesses and safety systems. Nothing needs to be rented for this trip. Binoculars can be borrowed from the Chitwan resort if you do not have your own.
