Cultural Sensitivity
Bhutan is a deeply spiritual Buddhist kingdom with strong cultural traditions. Quest participants are expected to dress modestly when visiting monasteries and sacred sites. This means covering shoulders and knees, removing hats and shoes when entering temples, and following photography guidelines provided by guides.
Altitude Considerations
The quest reaches maximum elevation of 3,120m at Tiger’s Nest Monastery, with the highest driving point at Dochula Pass (3,100m). Most adventurers experience no altitude-related issues, but those sensitive to elevation should inform us in advance. The gradual ascent and moderate elevations make this quest suitable for most visitors.
Weather Variations
Mountain weather can change quickly. Even during dry seasons, afternoon clouds and brief showers are possible. Pack layers for varying temperatures throughout the day, from cool mornings to warm afternoons.
Cultural Activities
Traditional workshops require advance booking with master artisans. Monastery visits depend on religious calendars and may be adjusted for special ceremonies. Festival schedules can enhance the quest experience when available.
Physical Preparation
While rated easy to moderate, basic walking fitness helps enjoy the Tiger’s Nest quest. Regular walking or light exercise 4-6 weeks before travel is recommended. The quest can be attempted at your own pace with multiple rest stops.
Sustainable Tourism
Bhutan follows a “High Value, Low Impact” tourism policy. Our quest respects this philosophy through small group sizes, local community engagement, and environmental consciousness. Adventurers contribute to Bhutan’s sustainable development through tourism fees.

As one of the core guiding principles for Mountain Kick, we always give back to the mountain community in any way we can as a means of gratitude. The people who live in the Himalayas and share their homes with us deserve to have all their little problems fixed which seem very basic for outsiders but are commonplace in rural Nepal. The people lack proper access to healthcare, sanitation and education but a little effort from travellers goes on a long way to solve these issues. Mountain Kick has made it its corporate social responsibility to help improve the living standards of the local community. We make donations to their cause, organize social campaigns and programs and also have a few trips designed to mix a little volunteer work in your holiday.
