Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, is one of the highest cities in the world and his dotted with culturally significant monuments like monasteries and palaces that make a visit to this place worth whlile.

Detail itinerary

  • day 01
    Arrival in Lhasa & transfer to Tsedang (3,550m/11,646ft).

    We will pick you up as you land into Lhasa and then we will head straight to Tsedang. The journey will be atleast two hours and then you will be transferred to your hotel.

  • day 02
    Tsedang to Lhasa (3,650m/11,972ft) via Samye Monastery, ChimPhu caves & Yambulakhang palace.

    This day you will be on the road for 10 hours. We will move back to Lhasa from Tsedang and stop on the way to see heritage monasteries and palaces like the Samye Monastery (the first Buddhist monastery built in Tibet between 775-9 CE), ChimPhu caves (which was once a retreat of Guru Rimpoche) and Yambulakhang palace (a five-storied palace believed to be the earliest structure in Tibet built for the first king of Tibet).

  • day 03
    Lhasa sightseeing. Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace & Tibet Museum.

    We will visit the architectural marvels of Lhasa this day. We will see the Potala Palace, a World Heritage Site and a museum built some 400 years ago. We then go to another World Heritage Site – the Norbulingka Palace which is considered to be the largest man-made garden in Tibet. Finally, we head to the Tibet Museum, which has a collection of rare artifacts which shine a light on Tibet’s history and culture.It will take at least six hours to visit these places and thoroughly witness the uniqueness and rich cultural heritage of these places.

  • day 04
    A day excursion to Namtso Lake.

    Namtso Lake is also known as Heavenly Lake. It is a mountain lake on the border between Damxung Country of Lhasa and Baingoin County of Tibet. It is mostly known as one of the famous places in Mountain Ranges with pure water and beautiful flora and fauna around it.

  • day 05
    Lhasa sightseeing. Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Bazaar.

    We will take you to visit the famous landmarks of Lhasa. We will begin by visiting two of the largest monasteries in Tibet – Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery. We then go to Barkhor, a busy marketplace, and visit the Jokhang Temple which lies in the area.

  • day 06
    Lhasa to Gyantse (3,950m/12,956ft) via Karo La Pass & YamdrokTso Lake.

    We will trek for around 5 to 6 hours this day. We will climb up the Karo La Pass and cross it also see the beautiful lake YamdrokTso. We can see magnificent landscape and natural scenery along our trek till we arrive at Gyantse.

  • day 07
    Gyantse to Shigatse (3,900m/12,795ft) via Shalu Monaster.

    The next day’s trek from Gyantse to Shigatse will take around two hours and is one of the most exciting trips on the tour.We will pass through Shalu Monastery which is known for its ancient architecture and mural paintings said to be the most beautiful in Tibet.

  • day 08
    Shigatse to Lhasa (3,650 m/11,972ft).

    We take the same road back through which we had arrived at the beginning of our journey. Look out the window from your bus to see what places you remember. The view of the Himalayas in the distance will surely remind you of your travel there. We will host a farewell dinner for you before you leave.

    Final Departure.

    We will drop you to the airport.

  • What will a trip with Mountain Kick involve?
    You will travel in a group of international travellers fully assisted by our guides and local support staff. We will take care of your entire trip as soon as you land into Bhutan and safely take to your preferred destination and back as per the package you choose. Travel will involve plenty of sightseeing and mixing with local culture.
  • Where will I be staying during the trip?
    You will stay in a three-star hotel and we assure you that you receive quality service throughout your stay.
  • And food?
    Only breakfast is provided for during your travel and you have to purchase all other meals by yourself. You will be served local food at all places we dine but you can order anything you like on the menu which you will have to pay for yourself. We make sure you get healthy and hygienic food throughout your travel.
  • How much help do I get during the travel?
    Our guides always put your safety and comfort first. We have English-speaking guides who take you to all major attractions throughout the travel and are happy to answer all your queries. We have local support staff in all villages and camps you reach to assist you in any way possible.
  • What happens in case of injuries and emergencies?
    The guides always carry a professional first aid kit with them to treat with minor injuries. We also have health professionals at villages and camps along the journey. The travel insurance you take (which is compulsory) covers any and all emergency rescue and evacuation.
  • What if I want to do something beyond the itinerary?
    We are always happy to accommodate your wishes during the travel so far as they do not conflict with schedules and other travellers. If you have special plans, you can talk to us beforehand so that we can arrange a customised trip for you.
  • Will I get to communicate with the outer world?
    There is internet and telephone connection in all of our stops for the day throughout the journey. You will be able to call back home or post your pictures on Facebook everyday.
  • What travel documents do I need?
    As soon as you land into Tibet, we take care of all your travel documents required during your trip. Tourist fees and permits to enter certain areas will be arranged for by Mountain Kick.
  • Which is best time of the year to travel?
    Most of the destinations in Tibet are accessible throughout the year but September through to December and March to May are the best months to travel.

Trip notes

  • Please make sure you take a travel insurance at home before arriving here. It is mandatory. Your insurance agent will know which insurance plan suits your travel.
  • It is advisable that you free up a few days before and after your trip schedule. For reasons beyond our control like flight delays, accidents and natural hazards, the itinerary may have to be altered.
  • Please inform us and our guides if you have any medical condition that might affect your trip. Please consult your doctor beforehand for any precautions you need to take and always carry medicines if you need them. However, our guides and local support staff have been trained in basic medical intervention and your travel insurance covers any emergency rescue or evacuation.
  • You may decide to alter your itinerary to some degree as long as there are no time constraints and everyone consents, if you are travelling in a group. Talk to us before embarking on the trip or you may also talk to our guides to see if we can arrange something. One thing we have learned from mountaineering all these years is however good you plan your journey, there are bound to be some improvisations to make our experience richer.
