2 Weeks in Nepal: 4 Itineraries With Real Prices

By Thapa Kumar · Oct 28, 2026 · 8 min read
Quick Answer

Two weeks is a good amount of time for Nepal. It’s enough for a classic trek like Everest Base Camp, or for Kathmandu, Chitwan, Lumbini and Pokhara with a short trek.

It isn’t enough to do everything, so pick one main focus: culture and wildlife, a short trek plus touring, or a big trek.

Key Facts
  • Culture and wildlife, no trek: 14 days, from USD 1,345
  • Culture plus Poon Hill trek: 13 days, from USD 1,250
  • Annapurna Base Camp Express plus Chitwan: 13 days, about USD 920 for both trips (estimate)
  • Everest Base Camp: 15 days including a buffer day, from USD 1,160 for the 14-day trek
  • Kathmandu to Pokhara by road: about 7 to 8 hours
  • Visa: get the 30-day visa (USD 50)
  • Prices: per person for 2 to 3 people, checked October 2026

Most first-time visitors try to fit too much into two weeks. Nepal’s roads are slow. A 200km drive can take 7 hours or more, and mountain flights get delayed. The trips that work best have one main focus and a bit of slack.

Here are four itineraries we offer from Kathmandu. Each one has a day-by-day plan and our current price. For the full holiday cost, including meals, tips and extras, see our Nepal trip cost guide.

Itinerary 2: Culture, Wildlife and Poon Hill (13 days)

The same mix of Kathmandu, Chitwan, Lumbini and Pokhara, plus a 4-day trek to Poon Hill for sunrise over Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. It suits beginners who are reasonably fit. The trek isn’t technical, but the stone steps up to Ulleri and the daily walking still take some effort, so do some walking before you come. This is our Nepal Heritage and Poon Hill Trek.

Itinerary 3: Annapurna Base Camp Express and Chitwan (13 days)

A fast trek to the foot of Annapurna, then three days in the jungle to rest your legs. This is our Annapurna Base Camp Express Trek, followed by our Chitwan National Park Safari.

It’s an express itinerary for fit trekkers, not a relaxed one. The two hardest days are the climb from Himalaya Hotel to Base Camp at 4,130m, and the long descent to Bamboo the next day. If you’d like a gentler pace, our standard 14-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek gives more time on the trail, but leaves no room for Chitwan in two weeks.

Price: about USD 920 per person, based on the trek (from USD 568) and the safari (from USD 350). This is an estimate. Joining the two trips changes the route, because you go to Chitwan from Pokhara instead of returning to Kathmandu, so we confirm the final price and what’s included when you book. Trail meals and tips are extra.

Itinerary 4: Everest Base Camp (15 days including a buffer day)

Two weeks is just the right length for Everest Base Camp. There’s no time for anything else, but it’s the trek most people come to Nepal for. This is our 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek, plus one spare day in Kathmandu.

Price: from USD 1,160 per person for the 14-day trek. Add one Kathmandu hotel night for the buffer day if you need it. Trail meals and tips are extra.

Keep the buffer day. Lukla flights are often delayed by weather. One spare day covers most delays, but not every one, so don’t book your flight home too close to the end of the trek. See Lukla flight delays.

Only Have 10 Days or Less?

You can still see a lot in 10 days or less.

With a few extra days, you can add a 3-day Chitwan safari to any of these. See also our short treks in Nepal.

What Doesn’t Fit in 2 Weeks

Some of Nepal’s best treks need more time once you add arrival, travel and a spare day:

If you have one of these in mind, plan for three weeks. See our guide to how many days you need for a Nepal trek.

Tips for Planning 2 Weeks in Nepal

  • Allow for slow roads. Kathmandu to Pokhara takes about 7 to 8 hours by bus. Chitwan is about 5 to 6 hours from Kathmandu. See Kathmandu to Pokhara.
  • Fly to save time. A Pokhara flight takes about 25 minutes and costs from about USD 120. Most of our trips can add one.
  • Keep a spare day after mountain flights. This matters most for Lukla.
  • Arrive by midday on Day 1 if you can, so you’re rested for the next morning’s start.
  • Get the 30-day visa. A 15-day visa doesn’t leave room for a delay. See our Nepal visa guide.
  • Pick the right season. October to November and March to April are best for trekking. Chitwan is best from October to March. See the best time to trek in Nepal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 2 weeks enough for Nepal?

Yes, for one main focus. It’s enough for Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp Express with Chitwan, or a culture tour with a short trek.

Can I do Everest Base Camp and Chitwan in 2 weeks?

Not comfortably. EBC alone takes 14 days plus a buffer day. If you want both, try the 9-day Everest View Trek with a 3-day Chitwan safari.

What’s the best 2-week itinerary for first-timers?

Itinerary 2, the Nepal Heritage and Poon Hill Trek. You see Kathmandu, Chitwan, Lumbini and Pokhara, plus an easy trek that suits beginners who are reasonably fit.

How much does 2 weeks in Nepal cost?

About USD 1,700 to 2,250 per person with a guide, including meals and extras but not international flights or insurance. See our Nepal trip cost guide.

Should I fly or take the bus between Kathmandu and Pokhara?

The bus is cheaper and included on our trips, but takes about 7 to 8 hours. Flying takes 25 minutes and saves most of a day.

Do I need a guide?

All our treks and tours include a licensed guide. See do you need a guide to trek in Nepal.
