On The Trail
What It Really Looks Like
Nepal Adventure and Pokhara Panchase Trek — What to Expect
360-degree Annapurna panorama at 2,506m above Pokhara on a four-day trek
45-minute tandem flight above Phewa Lake with the Annapurna range directly ahead
Trishuli rafting, Sarangkot paragliding, and Hemja bungee all included in the package
Nepal's best-preserved medieval Newari village, largely unknown to most international visitors
This is a 12-day private trip combining three paid adventure activities with a four-day mountain trek. The first half moves through four distinct areas: Kathmandu for heritage sightseeing, the Trishuli River gorge for white-water rafting, Bandipur for an overnight in Nepal’s best-preserved medieval Newari village, and Pokhara for tandem paragliding from Sarangkot and bungee jumping at the 262-foot Hemja platform. The second half is the Panchase Hill trek, four days on the trail from Pumdi through rhododendron forest and alpine grassland to a 2,506m summit with a full Annapurna panorama, then down to Kande.
The adventure activities require no prior experience. Your rafting guides handle the Trishuli Grade 2 and 3 rapids with a full safety briefing before you get on the water. The paragliding is tandem with a certified pilot. The bungee jump at Hemja has a minimum age of 10 years and a maximum weight of 110kg. The Panchase trek is moderate. You walk 3 to 5 hours per day over four days with a licensed guide setting the pace and a porter carrying your main bag. Prior hiking experience helps but is not essential. A reasonable baseline of fitness is.
MountainKick handles all logistics throughout the 12 days. Your guide is licensed and present for every activity, every heritage site, and every day on the trail. Kumar and the team have been running this route for over a decade and know the Panchase trails, the Trishuli put-in points, and the Bandipur guesthouses that most operators skip entirely. Travel insurance covering rafting, paragliding, bungee jumping, and trekking to at least 2,506m is compulsory on this trip.
What you will see and do:
- White-water rafting on the Trishuli River, Grade 2 and 3 rapids from Charaundi to Kurintar with professional guides
- Overnight in Bandipur, a medieval Newari hilltop village at 1,030m above the Kathmandu to Pokhara highway, largely unchanged since the 13th century
- Tandem paragliding from Sarangkot at 1,592m, up to 45 minutes above Pokhara with the Annapurna massif directly ahead, landing at Phewa Lake
- Bungee jumping from the 262-foot steel tower at Hemja with valley views from the platform
- Four-day Panchase Hill trek through rhododendron forest and alpine grassland with teahouse accommodation throughout
- Summit of Panchase Hill at 2,506m with a 360-degree panorama across the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu ranges
- Kathmandu heritage sightseeing at Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square
- Traditional Nepali farewell dinner with cultural performance on the final evening in Kathmandu
For travellers who want the same adventure activities combined with a Chitwan wildlife safari instead of the Panchase trek, see the Nepal Adventure Tour. For the Panchase trek as a standalone trip from Pokhara, see the Pokhara Panchase Trek.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrive in Kathmandu
Your guide meets you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfers you to your hotel in Thamel. In the evening your guide runs through the full 12-day itinerary, covers safety protocols for the rafting, paragliding, and bungee sections, and answers any questions before the trip begins.
Kathmandu Heritage Sightseeing
Full day at Kathmandu’s main heritage sites. Visit Pashupatinath Temple on the banks of the Bagmati River, the great stupa at Boudhanath, Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple) on the hilltop west of the city, and Kathmandu Durbar Square in the old city centre. Your guide covers the history and significance of each site.
Afternoon free to explore Thamel or the local markets.
Trishuli River Rafting and Drive to Bandipur
Early departure for Charaundi on the Trishuli River, around 3 hours from Kathmandu. Safety briefing with your rafting guides then 3 hours on the water through Grade 2 and 3 rapids to Kurintar. After rafting continue by road up to Bandipur, a medieval Newari hilltop village at 1,030m above the highway. Arrive in the evening for a walk along the cobblestone main street.
Bandipur Village and Drive to Pokhara
Morning free to explore Bandipur at your own pace. The village centre has remained largely unchanged for centuries with carved wooden facades, traditional Newari architecture, and the Bindabasini Temple. Walk out to Tundikhel viewpoint for morning mountain views across the valley. After lunch drive to Pokhara, arriving at the lakeside hotel in the afternoon.
Tandem Paragliding from Sarangkot
Early transfer to the Sarangkot paragliding launch site. After a briefing with your certified tandem pilot, take off from 1,592m for a 30 to 45-minute flight above Pokhara with the Annapurna range filling the northern horizon. You descend to the landing strip at Phewa Lake. Afternoon free to explore the lakeside, visit Devi’s Falls, or take a boat out on the lake.
Bungee Jumping at Hemja
Transfer to the Hemja bungee site, 15 minutes north of Pokhara. The platform is a 262-foot steel tower on the edge of a cliff with open valley views. Full safety briefing from your certified instructors before the jump. Return to Pokhara for the afternoon. Free evening at the lakeside before the trek begins tomorrow.
Trek to Pumdi Village
Transfer to the trailhead and start the Panchase trek with a 5-hour climb through terraced farmland and forest to Pumdi village. Views open across Pokhara valley and Phewa Lake as you gain elevation with the World Peace Pagoda visible on the ridge to the south. Pumdi has a three-storey view tower with a wide panorama of the Annapurna range.
Trek to Panchase Bhanjyang
A steady climb through dense oak and rhododendron forest past Bhumdi Gurung village toward the base of Panchase Hill. The trail opens up in places with views across the Annapurna range to the north. Three 8,000m peaks are visible on clear days. Arrive at Panchase Bhanjyang in the afternoon and set your alarm for an early summit start tomorrow.
Panchase Hill Summit and Descent to Bhadaure
Pre-dawn climb to the Panchase Hill summit at 2,506m. The 2-hour ascent through forest brings you to a 360-degree panorama across the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu ranges at sunrise. Return to the village for breakfast then a 3-hour descent through forest and terraced farmland to Bhadaure, a large Gurung settlement in the valley below.
Trek to Kande and Drive to Kathmandu
Final 2 to 3-hour trek through forest and small villages to Kande on the Pokhara to Baglung highway where your private vehicle picks you up. Short transfer to Pokhara then the scenic drive back to Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway. Arrive in the evening and check in to your hotel in Thamel.
Kathmandu Free Day and Farewell Dinner
Morning free for last-minute sightseeing or shopping. Thamel, Asan Bazaar, and New Road are the main areas for handicrafts, thangka paintings, pashmina, and trekking gear. In the evening a traditional Nepali farewell dinner hosted by MountainKick with cultural performances to close out the 12 days.
Final departure.
Breakfast at your hotel in Thamel, then a private transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport. Your guide sees you off at departures.

Where You'll Sleep & What You'll Eat
Kathmandu nights are at a 3-star hotel in Thamel with private en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and WiFi. The location puts you close to the heritage sites on Day 2 and within easy reach of the airport on arrival and departure.
Bandipur is one night at a traditional guesthouse in the village centre. Rooms are simple with basic facilities. The stone-and-timber construction is typical of Newari architecture and the location on the cobblestone main street is the best way to experience the village after the day visitors leave. It is not a luxury stay but it is the right one for Bandipur.
Pokhara nights are at a 3-star lakeside hotel in the Baidam area with private bathrooms, WiFi, and daily breakfast. The lakeside location keeps you close to the paragliding and bungee departure points and gives you the option of an evening walk along Phewa Lake.
The four trek nights are at teahouses in Pumdi, Panchase Bhanjyang, and Bhadaure. Rooms are twin sharing with attached or shared bathrooms depending on the teahouse. Hot showers and electricity are available at all three stops. All meals are included and served at the teahouse. A down jacket and sleeping bag are provided for the duration of the trek.
Single supplement is available on request at all hotels. Teahouse rooms cannot be guaranteed as single occupancy.
Breakfast is included at all hotels throughout the trip. All meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included during the four days on the Panchase trek. The farewell dinner in Kathmandu on Day 11 is also included.
Lunches and dinners in Kathmandu and Pokhara on non-trek days are at your own expense. In Thamel restaurants cover every cuisine and budget. In Pokhara the lakeside strip has everything from dal bhat to wood-fired pizza at $8 to $15 per person for dinner.
Teahouse food on the Panchase trek is simple and filling. Dal bhat, noodle soup, fried rice, and eggs are the staples. Portions are generous and refills on dal bhat are standard. Avoid ordering meat above the lower teahouses as supply chains are limited and freshness is not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What adventure activities are included in the price?
Three paid adventure activities are fully included: white-water rafting on the Trishuli River from Charaundi to Kurintar covering Grade 2 and 3 rapids, tandem paragliding from Sarangkot with a certified pilot for 30 to 45 minutes above Pokhara, and bungee jumping from the 262-foot steel platform at Hemja. The 4-day Panchase Hill trek is also fully included with licensed guide, porter, teahouse accommodation, and all meals on the trail. No prior experience is needed for any of the adventure activities.
How is this different from the Nepal Adventure Tour?
The Nepal Adventure Tour is 11 days and combines rafting, paragliding, and bungee jumping with a 2-night Chitwan wildlife safari. This trip swaps the Chitwan safari for a 4-day mountain trek to Panchase Hill at 2,506m and adds an overnight in the medieval village of Bandipur. If a proper multi-day trek and a summit are the priority, this is the right trip. If Chitwan wildlife is the priority, the Nepal Adventure Tour is the better fit.
How difficult is the Panchase Hill trek?
The Panchase trek is moderate. You walk 3 to 5 hours per day over 4 days, reaching a maximum altitude of 2,506m at the summit. The trails pass through forest and open grassland on mostly clear paths. The summit day involves a pre-dawn 2-hour climb which is the most demanding section. Prior hiking experience helps but is not essential. A reasonable baseline of fitness is. Your licensed guide sets the pace throughout and the porter carries your main bag. For a standalone version of the same trek see the Pokhara Panchase Trek.
What is Bandipur and why does the itinerary include it?
Bandipur is a medieval Newari hilltop village at 1,030m above the Kathmandu to Pokhara highway. It is one of Nepal’s best-preserved traditional towns with cobblestone streets, carved wooden facades, and temple architecture largely unchanged since the 13th century. It sits directly on the route between the Trishuli rafting section and Pokhara, which makes it a natural overnight stop. Most operators drive straight past. We stop because it is worth it.
What is the best time to do this trip?
October and November are the prime months. Skies are clear, the Annapurna range is sharp from Panchase summit, and all three adventure activities run without weather disruption. March and April are equally good and the Panchase rhododendron forests are in full bloom. December and January are cold at altitude but clear and quiet. June is early monsoon and paragliding gets grounded regularly by low cloud. July and August are not recommended for this itinerary.
Are there age or weight limits for the adventure activities?
Bungee jumping at Hemja has a minimum age of 10 years, minimum weight of 35kg, and maximum weight of 110kg. Paragliding from Sarangkot has no formal published weight limit but operators typically work with passengers up to around 100kg. Let us know in advance if this is relevant and we will confirm with the operator before your trip. Rafting has no age or weight restrictions but basic comfort in water is helpful.
What travel insurance do I need?
Travel insurance is compulsory on this trip and must specifically cover white-water rafting, paragliding, bungee jumping, and trekking to at least 2,506m, plus emergency medical evacuation. Standard travel insurance policies frequently exclude adventure activities and trekking above a certain altitude so check your policy carefully before you travel. If you need guidance on which insurers cover all four activities we are happy to point you in the right direction.
What happens if weather affects one of the activities?
All three adventure activities and the trek are weather-dependent. Paragliding is the most affected by poor weather as low cloud and rain ground flights regularly, particularly in June and the monsoon months. Your guide monitors conditions daily and will advise on the day. In most cases a short postponement within the itinerary is possible. If an activity cannot run at all due to weather we will do our best to reschedule. This is another reason travel insurance with activity coverage is essential.
Do I need prior trekking or adventure experience?
No prior experience is needed for the rafting, paragliding, or bungee jump. All three have full safety briefings and certified guides or pilots. For the Panchase trek, prior hiking experience helps but is not essential. What matters more is a reasonable baseline of fitness. If you can walk uphill comfortably for 3 to 4 hours you can complete this trek. Bring broken-in hiking boots and trekking poles if you have them.
What meals are included?
Breakfast is included at all hotels throughout the 12 days. All meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included during the 4-day Panchase trek at the teahouses. The farewell dinner in Kathmandu on Day 11 is also included. Lunches and dinners in Kathmandu and Pokhara on non-trek days are at your own expense. Budget $8 to $15 per person for dinner in both cities.
Can I customise the itinerary?
Yes. If you want an extra day in Pokhara, a different activity swapped in, or a Chitwan safari added at the end, tell us when you book and we will adjust. Kumar replies personally within a few hours and is happy to build the itinerary around your schedule and interests.
