Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, is one of the highest cities in the world and his dotted with culturally significant monuments like monasteries and palaces that make a visit to this place worth whlile.
We will pick you up as you land into Lhasa and then we will head straight to Tsedang. The journey will be atleast two hours and then you will be transferred to your hotel.
This day you will be on the road for 10 hours. We will move back to Lhasa from Tsedang and stop on the way to see heritage monasteries and palaces like the Samye Monastery (the first Buddhist monastery built in Tibet between 775-9 CE), ChimPhu caves (which was once a retreat of Guru Rimpoche) and Yambulakhang palace (a five-storied palace believed to be the earliest structure in Tibet built for the first king of Tibet).
We will visit the architectural marvels of Lhasa this day. We will see the Potala Palace, a World Heritage Site and a museum built some 400 years ago. We then go to another World Heritage Site – the Norbulingka Palace which is considered to be the largest man-made garden in Tibet. Finally, we head to the Tibet Museum, which has a collection of rare artifacts which shine a light on Tibet’s history and culture.It will take at least six hours to visit these places and thoroughly witness the uniqueness and rich cultural heritage of these places.
Namtso Lake is also known as Heavenly Lake. It is a mountain lake on the border between Damxung Country of Lhasa and Baingoin County of Tibet. It is mostly known as one of the famous places in Mountain Ranges with pure water and beautiful flora and fauna around it.
We will take you to visit the famous landmarks of Lhasa. We will begin by visiting two of the largest monasteries in Tibet – Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery. We then go to Barkhor, a busy marketplace, and visit the Jokhang Temple which lies in the area.
We will trek for around 5 to 6 hours this day. We will climb up the Karo La Pass and cross it also see the beautiful lake YamdrokTso. We can see magnificent landscape and natural scenery along our trek till we arrive at Gyantse.
The next day’s trek from Gyantse to Shigatse will take around two hours and is one of the most exciting trips on the tour.We will pass through Shalu Monastery which is known for its ancient architecture and mural paintings said to be the most beautiful in Tibet.
We take the same road back through which we had arrived at the beginning of our journey. Look out the window from your bus to see what places you remember. The view of the Himalayas in the distance will surely remind you of your travel there. We will host a farewell dinner for you before you leave.
We will drop you to the airport.
