Khaptad lies in the far western part of Nepal and is so remote you will hardly find any modern infrastructures. But for the adventurer-seeking tourist, Khaptad trekking is said to be one of the best adventure.
A Mountain Kick representative will receive you as you land into Kathmandu and take you to your hotel.
We will take you on a guided tour to three iconic monuments in Kathmandu which are included in the Unesco’s World Heritage List. Our first stop will be the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the biggest and holiest shrines in the world of Hindu god Shiva.
We visit another World Heritage Site of Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the country. It is believed that the Stupa is a tomb of an incarnation of Lord Buddha.
We then drive to Bhaktapur to visit the Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The square is a former royal courtyard where there are several ancient temples and monuments to visit. The place is rich in culture and preserves the traditional way of living.
Your next destination is Dhangadhi in far western Nepal. After a few sightseeing around Dhangadhi City, you will be transferred to your guesthouse for rest.
Early morning we will take a microbus to Silgadhi from Dhangadhi. We can have a great view of hills and mountains all along our journey till we reach Silgadhi in the evening. As it is a long trip we will transfer you directly to your hotel for you to rest.
From Silgadhi, we walk through the motor-ableroad and follow stone trailstill we reach a waterfall. From here we can reach Jhingrana in about one hour.
Now our journey starts toward the Bichpani Camp. It takes us five hours from Jhingrana as we pass through the Khaptad National Park entry point and after ascending more toward the midpoint for about two hours we will reach our destination, Bichpani.
This trekking road is quite dangerous as there is very little or no sign and we can get lost easily. Stones have been laid on the path on which we have to walk for three hours till we cross a wooden bridge and rest a bit in Maikathan. Further ahead we will reach Tribeni where we will find two roads, the right one takes us to the temple of Sahasralinga and the left road take us up to the head quarter, which is where we are heading.
The Khaptad National Park is highly famous for its eco-system which has huge variety of vegetation from sub-tropical forest to temperate forests. This area is rich in flora and fauna like oak and rhododendron in higher areas, more than 224 species of medical herbs, 11 percentage of flowering plants of Nepal, 270 species of birds and many different other species of animals. The peaks of Mt Api, Mt Saipal and Mt Malika can also be viewed from here.
After visiting other different tourist areas and viewing the natural beauty of Khaptad region we head back to Jhingrana through Bichpani camp.
From Bichpani we descend to Shilgadi through the same path we had arrived.
Leaving Khaptad behind we drive back to Dhangadhi and rest for the day.
After this long journey and a night rest we will take a quick connecting flight to Kathmandu. Then you will be transferred to your hotel. We will have a farewell dinner planned for your last night in Nepal.
You will be headed home and recollections of your beautiful expedition will keep you occupied on your long flight back.

As one of the core guiding principles for Mountain Kick, we always give back to the mountain community in any way we can as a means of gratitude. The people who live in the Himalayas and share their homes with us deserve to have all their little problems fixed which seem very basic for outsiders but are commonplace in rural Nepal. The people lack proper access to healthcare, sanitation and education but a little effort from travellers goes on a long way to solve these issues. Mountain Kick has made it its corporate social responsibility to help improve the living standards of the local community. We make donations to their cause, organize social campaigns and programs and also have a few trips designed to mix a little volunteer work in your holiday.
