Head towards the Annapurna Base Camp from Pokhara passing through several hilltop villages along the way. The beauty of the locations and the thrill of travelling through forests and above gorges make this a perfect adventure.
Annapurna Base Camp is considered the home of the gods by the locals and upon reaching there it does feel that the place has something divine. You will trek on the foot of the majestic Annapurna massif, walking past mountains over 21,000 feet in altitude. We will take you through such a route that you will visit all the beautiful villages on the way there and back.
We will receive you at the airport in Kathmandu (4,600 feet) and take you to your hotel.
We will take you around Kathmandu to different heritage sites and happening places to make you see why this ancient city is so popular among tourists. Kathmandu is rich in culture and the ancient parts of the city have not changed for hundreds of years. A pre-trip meeting will be held in the evening to run you through the itinerary.
We will take an early morning flight to Pokhara -30 minutes, the famous tourist town on the bank of the Phewa Lake. Everyone going to or returning from Annapurna stays at Pokhara, so you will meet plenty of travellers like yourself here. The lakeside area offers an amazing nightlife to relax you ahead of your trekking trip.
We will begin the day with a short drive to Ulleri on a private vehicle where the trekking circuit around Mount Annapurna begins. We will walk six miles alongside forests and streams from here to Ghorepani to begin our own expedition. Steps have been laid all the way up to Ghorepani. Walking up the steps for five to six hours will definitely put a lot of pressure on your legs but we will pass through several villages and stops to keep you fresh. The forests and hills provide a very good distraction from your fatigue.
Poon Hill lies in the village and we trek to its summit. People say the western part of the Himalayas look more beautiful than the eastern ranges and nowhere is this true than from Poon Hill at 10,535 feet above the sea level. After the summit, we trek towards Tadhapani. The Himalayas will accompany you throughout the way to Tadhapani as we pass through forests and streams. It takes five hours to get here but the clear view of the majestic mountains from Tadhapani makes the tough trek worth the effort.
We have to head closer to the Annapurna. We have to make a tough uphill climb which takes as much as five hours. The view of the beautiful Himalayan range and the rhododendron forests and rivers along the way might distract you away from your fatigue.
We have cross the Chomrong River and enter the ModiKhola Valley to reach Dovan village. Past the village, we have to cross another river, the ModiKhola River. Beyond that comes the final ascent to Himalaya Hotel. The entire trip takes some six hours.
You have to walk for the entire day to reach our point of interest. To reach this glacial basin, we have to pass through narrow ways between the bases of Mount Himchuli (21,132 feet) and Mount Machhapuchhre (22,943 feet). Standing on the foot of the Annapurna Massif is breathtaking; you will be surrounded by mountains over 23,000 feet. No wonder the local people consider this place a home of the gods.
We take the same track back through which we came the other day. We walk for six hours past the ModiKhola River and a forest towards Bamboo.
It takes five hours to trek to Jhinu. After all these days of hiking, you will be in a lot of pain but the natural hot water spring at Jhinu will ease your pain a little. After some relaxing time we will take a ride back to Pokhara.
Pokhara is the most beautiful city in Nepal and that is why tourists from all around the world come here. Major tourist attractions are the Devi’s Fall, the Mahendra Cave, the Bat Cave, the World Peace Pagoda and the Phewa Lake. The lakeside area is a great place for tourists to hangout and the nightlife here is amazing.
We take a 30 minutes flight back to Kathmandu. Look out the window from the plane to see what places you remember. The view of the Himalayas in the distance will surely remind you of your travel there. We will host a farewell dinner for you before you leave.
We will see you off at the airport. It will be a happy-sad moment as we know that it is hard to leave this wonderful country but you will be leaving with very rich memories.
In Kathmandu, you will stay in a three-star hotel while you will be staying at standard guesthouses during your travel. As one of the core guiding principles for Mountain Kick, we always give back to the mountain community in any way we can as a means of gratitude. The people who live in the Himalayas and share their homes with us deserve to have all their little problems fixed which seem very basic for outsiders but are commonplace in rural Nepal. The people lack proper access to healthcare, sanitation and education but a little effort from travellers goes on a long way to solve these issues. Mountain Kick has made it its corporate social responsibility to help improve the living standards of the local community. We make donations to their cause, organize social campaigns and programs and also have a few trips designed to mix a little volunteer work in your holiday.
